Hughesville, MD: The Southern Maryland Association of REALTORS® (SMAR) Community Relations Committee organized its first Food Drive Challenge of the year that ran from January 19th – February 23rd. Even though food is collected year-round at SMAR, a special food drive was organized to replenish food pantries after the holiday season. REALTOR® and Affiliate Member offices of SMAR were challenged to collect food for a period of three weeks and then drop off their collections at the SMAR office in Hughesville. In total, 386.5 pounds of food was donated! Thank you to all individuals who donated and to the following companies who participated office-wide: Exit by the Bay Realty, Leonard Realty, O’Brien Realty, RE/MAX One, and TriStar Realty.

SMAR’s Community Relations Committee selected two food pantries in each county in Southern Maryland to receive the donated food - SMILE and St. Anthony’s (Ladies of Charity) Food Pantries in Calvert County, Christ Church Food Pantry and Hughesville Baptist Church in Charles County and Good Samaritan Lutheran Church and Hope Food Pantry in St. Mary’s County. As food collection continues, other various food pantries in Southern Maryland will receive donations.
